Simple. Flexible. Cost-Effective
Protect your family, income, and financial obligations

Protection for financial needs with an expected end date.
Term life insurance provides a selected amount of coverage for needs such as income replacement, a mortgage, or financially dependent children.
For a level-term policy, the premium stays the same during the term, such as 10, 20, or 30 years. If the insured dies while the policy is in force, the death benefit is paid according to the policy’s terms.

Premium stays the same during the term
Renewal options after Year 20 depend on the policy.
Obtain coverage for a temporary financial need at a lower cost than comparable lifetime protection.
Your premium is guaranteed to stay the same throughout the selected term.
Depending on the contract, options include renewal, eligible term exchange, conversion, or coverage reduction as needs change.
Your price depends on your personal profile, how much coverage you choose, and how long you need it.
Your age when you apply, sex, smoking status, and health help determine your premium. For otherwise comparable coverage, buying at an older age costs more.
This is the amount paid to your beneficiaries if you die while insured. For the same person, type of coverage, and term length, a higher coverage amount costs more.
This is the period during which your premium and coverage amount remain the same. For the same person, type of coverage, and coverage amount, the longer the term, the higher the cost.

The longer the period of protection, the greater the likelihood that a death benefit will be paid during that time. That is why a longer term costs more.
The lowest starting price is not the only consideration. The term should also match how long the financial need is expected to last.
Coverage designed to last as long as the financial responsibility does.
Provide funds to replace income the household would lose after your death.
Provide funds toward a mortgage, loans, and other outstanding obligations.
Support everyday costs and other financial needs while children are dependent.
Create funds toward future education costs if you die before enough has been saved.
Address a defined exposure, such as a business loan or an obligation tied to a set agreement.
Cover other commitments with an identifiable end date, such as support for a dependent relative.

Different needs require different types of coverage.
The starting point is how long the financial need is expected to exist.
For needs with an expected end date.
Income replacement, mortgage and debts, children’s needs, and education.
Lower cost for comparable coverage because the protection is designed around a limited period.
For needs expected to exist whenever death occurs.
Final expenses, estate obligations, lifelong support, and legacy goals.
Higher cost for comparable coverage because the protection is designed to last for life.
Neither is better in every situation. The right choice depends on how long you need the coverage: for a defined period or throughout life.
A properly designed insurance plan can combine term and permanent insurance, including different term lengths, to address a person’s multiple financial needs over different timelines.
If your family needs protection for 20 years, choose term insurance that matches that timeline. Don’t buy a shorter term with the intention of renewing it to cover the remaining years.
Renewal provides a safety net if you still need coverage and cannot qualify for a new policy. Its substantially higher premiums make it an emergency option, rather than the basis of your insurance plan.
Final expenses arise whenever death occurs. Temporary coverage can leave that need unfunded if the policy ends first.
Look beyond the premium. Conversion options, exchange privileges, deadlines, renewal schedules, and underwriting requirements also affect the choice.
Understand the options, deadlines, and conditions behind the coverage.
The initial level-premium period ends. If the policy includes contractual renewal, coverage continues under its renewal provisions and premium schedule, up to its final expiry date or terminal age. The end of the initial term is not necessarily the end of the policy. Renewal schedules and terminal ages differ by contract.
For a level-term policy, the premium stays the same during the selected initial period while the coverage is unchanged. After that, the renewal premiums shown in the contract apply and are typically substantially higher. A change in coverage or benefits can also change the cost.
Both structures exist. Some policies increase premiums every year after the initial term; others renew in blocks, such as successive 10-year periods. The policy’s renewal schedule shows when premiums change and how long coverage can continue.
An eligible conversion privilege gives you the right to convert the permitted amount to an eligible permanent policy without new medical evidence. Exercise it before the contractual deadline and within its coverage limits and product conditions. Available plans and the new premium are determined under the conversion provisions. Not every term policy has this privilege.
A term exchange is an option offered by some insurers that allows you to exchange your term policy for a longer term, such as moving from a 10-year to a 20-year term, without providing new medical evidence. Each insurer sets its exchange window and eligible term options. The new premium is based on your age at the time of the exchange.
No. Renewal, conversion, and eligible term exchanges do not require new medical evidence when completed within their applicable deadlines and conditions. Applying for a new policy is different and involves a new underwriting assessment.
Yes. You can reduce your coverage amount if your needs change, without applying for a new policy. The remaining amount must meet the product’s minimum. The insurer recalculates your premium, so the savings are not necessarily proportional to the amount removed.
Yes. A 20-year term does not obligate you to pay for 20 years. It guarantees the premium for that period, but you can cancel earlier if you no longer need the coverage. Term insurance has no cash surrender value.
No death benefit is paid simply because coverage ends. A conventional term policy does not build cash value or return its premiums at expiry. Review any continuing need before the final expiry date and before renewal, exchange, or conversion deadlines pass.
Not every application requires an examination. Requirements depend on the insurer, product, age, coverage amount, and health history. Underwriting can include health questions, medical records, or tests. Submitting an application does not automatically activate coverage. Coverage starts only when the insurer’s applicable requirements are met; any temporary insurance has its own terms.
Yes. Smokers are insurable at smoker rates, subject to underwriting. Disclose tobacco, nicotine, and other relevant product use accurately. Insurers define smoking status and eligibility for non-smoker rates under their own rules.
Yes. Get an instant quote if you know the coverage amount and term you want to compare. A quote is a price indication, not approval or active coverage. The insurer determines the final premium and eligibility through its application and underwriting process. The policy’s terms, exclusions, and conditions apply.
